Junior Tennis Clinics

A Plus Sports is proud to offer tennis clinics at Chesterbrook Swim and Tennis Club. We offer comprehensive tennis instruction for every age group from a player’s first strokes to the collegiate level. Our program is focused on three specific areas; skills acquisition, practice / development and competitive application. Players graduate to a higher level based on their progress, ability and commitment.

A Plus Sports Program Policies

A Plus Sports Spring 2025 at Chesterbrook consists of 9 weeks of tennis instruction beginning March 17th and ending May 25th.

Makeups: We will do our best to accommodate makeup requests but we cannot guarantee them. We do not offer refunds for missed tennis classes. If you are requesting a makeup, you must email A Plus Sports at [email protected] with the date that your child will be absent from clinic. From there, we will look for a makeup opportunity in the level that your child is enrolled. Makeups must receive approval prior to attendance. Makeups can only be used for Chesterbrook programming clinics during the session in which the player is enrolled. Please note that students are supervised only while on court during class and are not supervised off court, before or after the class. YELLOW BALL CLASSES

(Ages 13 and above)

 

FUNdamental Yellow

Early developmental classes emphasize stroke development alongside core functional aspects of the tennis game. With movement, positioning, and technical parts of tennis being the primary focus, this selection of classes is an ideal fit for the newer students of the sport. Students older than 12 learning how to play tennis, will fit nicely in this class. The player to court ratio will be a maximum of 5 per court for this level.

High School

Designed for the student with experience looking to either try out for varsity high school tennis or have experience in high school tennis. Emphasis will focus on technical development along with strategic application. Students are encouraged to play USTA sanctioned tournaments. UTR ranges for players are from 1 to 2.39. The player to court ratio will be a maximum of 5 per court for this level.

Tournament/Invite

Students participating in USTA tournament competition are required to try out for this program. Players will refine their tactical skills and build their specific game style. Instructors will conduct variety of drills to enhance players’ individual style. The required UTR range is 2.4 and above. Invite players look to refine their advanced games to seek competition at the highest of levels – a minimum UTR of 5 is required to be placed into this program. Players will be split into groups based on these criteria during class. The player to court ratio will be a maximum 4 per court for this level.

LOW COMPRESSION CLASSES

(Ages 12 and below)

 

FUNdamental Classes

Designed to accommodate less experienced players in their age group. Students will learn proper tennis groundstrokes with an emphasis on having fun on their respective tennis courts: Full size for Green, 60’ court for Orange, and 36’ court for Red.

There is a high emphasis on using our Moving, Adjusting, Positioning (MAP) system in order to properly develop tennis related athletic skills. The player to court ratio will be a maximum of 5 per court for this level.

Rally Red

In this class, students will also learn to start and further develop their abilities to maintain rallies with groundstrokes. Emphasis on technique, motor development, stroke production and movement between shots. Students will learn our Moving, Adjusting, Positioning (MAP) system in order to prepare to play tennis at a higher level. The player to court ratio will be a maximum of 5 per court for this level.

Competitive Classes

Typically for players that are able to rally and serve consistently. Court coverage, point production, and advanced skills are emphasized in these classes. A 60’ court is utilized for Orange level competitive classes, while a full sized court is used for the Green competitive classes. The player to court ratio will be a maximum of 5 per court for this level.
