Swim Team – Volunteers

Our summer swim team exists because parents are willing to volunteer their time and talents to make it happen. We have always enjoyed amazing support from families.

To those of you who have already agreed to key leadership roles, we are very grateful. However, we still have some important positions to fill.

Please consider the opportunities below. If you are interested or would like to hear more about any of these, please let us know as soon as possible.

Auction Chair(s):

Every summer the Swim Team must find a way to raise additional funds to support the many activities and events that make the summer so memorable for all our kids. These additional funds are necessary to fund the Team beyond what the Club funds on an annual basis. Swim Team fundraising funds go to pay for such things as supplies to decorate the Club for meets, the Stay & Play event, to supplement the Progressive Dinner, and many other things that make the summer a success!

This year, we will be once again host a Swim Team Auction on Saturday evening, July 21st at the Club. The event is adults-only and the one time all summer where parents and friends can kick back and enjoy a fun evening under the stars, while raising funds for our amazing team’s efforts throughout the season! The event includes a catered dinner and silent auction with great items donated by families, members, and businesses. The highlight of the evening is the Live Auction that includes the most prized items and always tends to be a raucous and eventful hour!

We are in need of someone (or multiple people) to organize the evening, including coordinating auction items and dinner. Please let us know if you are willing to help and lead efforts for this incredibly important (and necessary!) effort.

Pancake Breakfast Coordinator:

A long-standing tradition at Chesterbrook has been the annual Pancake Breakfast. We make and serve pancakes at a practice to the entire team, including all Little Jaws and Tiger Sharks. This year, we’d like to do it on Friday June 29th. Responsibilities include gathering ingredients and supplies, and spending the morning at the pool making pancakes for each age group as they finish practice. We will help organize other parents to help.

Saturday Team Lunch Coordinator:

If you’re not a big breakfast person, but prefer lunch, this is the job for you! We provide lunch for the team at the pool after the two home meets, and gather at restaurants after the three away meets. For home meets, this person will organize having lunch delivered to the Club for the team following the conclusion of the meet and lead set-up efforts. Everyone pitches in to help clean up. For away meets, this person will identify a restaurant for the team to meet at post-meet, as well as work with the identified restaurant as appropriate.

Age Group Coordinators:

This is a great position if you are new to the team and want to meet other parents in your child’s age group (8&U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, & 15-18). We need a coordinator for each age group – five total volunteers. There are two tasks: (1) Organize volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up during the one designated Friday night pasta party that your respective age group will host, and (2) Coordinate an age group basket for the silent auction, with a theme of your choice, that includes donations from other families in the age group. We will provide you with contact information for every family in your age group.

Senior Send Off Lead:

This is another memorable event for the team each summer, which occurs during our last home Saturday meet (July 21st). We are looking for someone to organize the Graduating Senior Send-Off which includes ordering t-shirts of the colleges where graduating seniors are headed off to for display and organizing the traditional “Gatorade” toast. Also includes organizing team-provided senior gifts that will be given at the End of Year Party.

If you are willing and able to fill any of these important roles, please let us know as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!
