I have been a member for over 25 years whose kids worked and swam at Chesterbrook

Chris Trimble
As a member of Chesterbrook since 2015, my family and I have been actively involved, visiting virtually every day during swim season. I am deeply committed to the success and enjoyment of the Club and am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as the VP of Personnel.

As a native of Northern Virginia, I have a lifelong connection with the local swimming community, having grown up swimming and working at Great Falls Swim and Tennis. This experience has given me a profound understanding of the dedication and effort required to staff and manage a club like Chesterbrook.
At Chesterbrook, we have actively participated in both Little Jaws and Lower Pool swimming programs, and I have volunteered as a timer and a stroke and turn judge. Professionally, I work in IT at Edward Jones, and I have previously worked in IT consulting and data management.

Thank you for your consideration.

Secretary/At Large

Caroline Nolan
Chesterbrook has been an integral part of Caroline and her family’s lives for the last 10 years. Since joining in 2014, Caroline has participated in women’s tennis, served as the B Meet Coordinator for the Tigersharks swim team for 3 years, and played countless pickleball matches with family and friends. Caroline’s three sons, Carden, Aiden, and Hudson, have been part of the Tigersharks since the age of 6. You can find Caroline and her husband, Casey, giving any free time in the summer to the swim team! While Caroline only started swimming laps herself in 2020, swimming during Sunday brunch is one of the highlights of her week.

Outside of Chesterbrook, Caroline is the Director of Staffing at CrossCountry Consulting for the last 9 years. CrossCountry Consulting provides integrated solutions for the office of the CFO, and Caroline and her team prioritize matching consultant preferences and skillsets with the needs of our clients. Caroline graduated from UVA with a B.S. in Accounting, after which she got her CPA license. Although she transitioned out of a public accounting role, she leverages her spreadsheet and organizational skills through travel planning and the chaos of her boys’ busy schedules at home.

While the facilities are spectacular, it is the people at that Chesterbrook that make it special. Caroline is excited at the opportunity to continue to give back and make an impact at the club.

Candy Penn
Our family has been a member of Chesterbrook for many years, since we moved into this area. Summers have been special with the friendships we have, as parents, and that our children have, as they were swim, dive and tennis team members and working as guards, front desk staff, and as a dive team coach. What makes CST special is that it is more than a swim and tennis (and pickleball!) club. It’s a community.

I was on the board at CST, as vice president from 2004-2007, during which time we rebuilt the lower pool and I worked with staff– our pool manager and the many lifeguards, front desk/snack bar staff and coaches–who make great summers possible.

I am the director of a local non-profit, and serve on its board of directors.  I have served on the parent board of the McLean HS band and am currently a member of 100 Women Who Care of Northern Virginia.

I have the time and would like to contribute to the tradition of providing a great experience with all that CST has to offer by serving as secretary/at large board member.

Treasurer

Beth Mahood
I am interested in serving on the Chesterbrook Swim & Tennis Club’s Board as a treasurer and I am asking for your vote.

My family has been a pool member since 2001 and we have enjoyed the club’s many offerings over the years. We have had family on the swim team, in the tennis classes, in the summer camps and my husband has served on the pool’s board about ten years ago. My son & daughter were both lifeguards while in high school.

I am a CPA and am working full time for a small CPA firm in Rockville MD. I have been with that company for many years both part time & full time.

I have served on other boards in the past, but not at the pool. Positions included President of the Chesterbrook Elementary School PTA, Vestry/board member at our DC church and the endowment board chair for our parish. I have also served as a committee chair in various organizations.

I look forward to meeting new pool members and to sharing ideas and visions of how we can continue to make our club a special place for all members

Membership

Janet Hedrick
Janet, her husband Paul, and their children Nick, Alex, Katie, and Natalie have been members of the club since 2000 and have been very active in the CST pool community.  Over the years, their family has actively participated in various activities, with the kids being former swim, dive, and tennis team members and serving on the CST staff as assistant managers, lifeguards, and snack bar and front desk helpers. Janet and her family loved taking part in the club’s social events, including family parties, July 4th watermelon contests and family relays, movie nights, ice cream socials, and the delightful Sunday brunches. Paul has notably served as the club’s Treasurer and later as President from 2019-2021.

Janet is the Director of Membership & Engagement for the American Society for Microbiology, a non-profit professional association with 33,000 members. With her extensive career in membership roles, Janet brings a wealth of experience to the CST Membership Director position. Her work on various committees has given her the skills to be an asset to the CST board. Her ability to listen and work effectively with others will ensure continued smooth pool management. She is committed to processing memberships promptly, allowing everyone to start enjoying the summer fun as soon as possible.

Having enjoyed being a CST member for so many years, Janet is excited to welcome new club members to our wonderful pool community.  She aims to maintain the club’s warm and familial spirit while building a stable membership for everyone to enjoy.

Communications

Josh Babb
Bio forthcoming

Vanita Rahman
I am an avid swimmer, an internal medicine physician, and a mother of twins. Along with my husband, we have been part of the Chesterbrook Swim and Tennis community since 2012. Ever since, Chesterbrook has been a treasured part of our summers – from swim team practices, meets, and pep rallies, to leisurely poolside dinners and conversations with friends on warm summer evenings.

I am excited to take on the communications position and contribute to the Chesterbrook community. If elected, I will draw on my extensive professional experience as a communicator. In my role as clinic director with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, I often write articles, speak at conferences, and talk to journalists. You can find published samples of my writing in peer-reviewed medical journals, STAT News, and my cookbook, Simply Plant Based.

I will bring the same energy and passion that I have for nutrition and lifestyle medicine to our Chesterbrook community. When I am not working, you can find me swimming laps in the lower pool (at 6 AM) with my husband. Please stop by and say hello.

Sandra Rodriguez-Miranda
Sandra and her family joined Chesterbrook in 2020, taking a leap of faith that they would be able to enjoy the pool that summer despite the global shutdown. Fortunately, their son Javi has been a dedicated Tigershark since then and cherishes his summers at Chesterbrook.

Chesterbrook has become a central part of Sandra and her family’s life. Since joining, Sandra has been an active swim team volunteer, serving as Clerk of Course at B meets for three years and this summer she was a Stroke and Turn judge. Sandra has volunteered at nearly every B meet and some A meets. You can always find the family cheering on all of the swimmers at relay carnivals and A meets, even if Javi isn’t swimming in those meets. Javi has also been involved beyond swimming, participating in the tennis team and clinics in the fall, as well as summer camps.

Professionally, Sandra is the Communications Director at the Wolf Trap Foundation, where she oversees digital communications (email and website), media relations, social media, and publications. She brings over 20 years of experience in communications, public relations and crisis communications, including roles at The Nature Conservancy and American University. Throughout her career, Sandra has ensured that external communications are clear, accurate, and timely, tailored to various platforms to reach demographically diverse audiences. She also understands the importance of engaging an active membership audience from her time at The Nature Conservancy and currently at Wolf Trap. An Arlington native, Sandra graduated from Yorktown High School and George Mason University with a B.A. in Communication, concentrating in public relations. She still lives in Arlington, with her family and their 100-pound Lab mix, Chocolate.

Sandra is excited about the opportunity to join the Chesterbrook Board. In this role, Sandra aims to rejuvenate the community’s social media presence and build a team of social media-savvy ambassadors. She also plans to keep the community connected during the off-season through social media and monthly newsletters. She sees the role as one that can bring the already tight-knit community closer while also delivering essential information to the members. Sandra fondly remembers how welcoming the Chesterbrook community was to her and her family, and she believes that this warmth is integral to the Chesterbrook family. Sandra is deeply committed to sharing the unique spirit of Chesterbrook with all members and future members, celebrating the people who make it so special.

Strategic Planning

Jerry Fritz
Jerry and his family have been proud Chesterbrook members since 1993.  In that three-decade time, we’ve been deeply immersed in the Club’s ying and yang.  I began playing tennis at the Club in 1987 even before we joined.  Our twins swam for the Tigersharks from 8 & Under through 15-18 graduates as well as participating in all the associated tasks – desk working, life guarding, and Little Jaws coaching.  Family involvement has been a key hallmark to us – A and B swim meet timers, ribbon table assisting, stroke & turn judging, team photographing, and arranging outside media coverage.  We’ve added our input into the major changes from new and revamped tennis courts to new pavilions, and master strategic plans to move and replace pools and associated facilities.  We’ve hosted multiple Chesterbrook events at our home and volunteered for a number of social events over the years including dances, family dinners and brunches.

The master strategic plan and associated budget is a key to moving forward for our family-oriented club.  I have paid close attention to the process and bring some background to these types of issues.  I have recently retired as the Executive Vice President for Legal and Strategic Planning for a very large company and have over 37 years’ experience in strategic planning.  I would expect that some of that know-how would be useful to the Club and look forward to helping to guide it along the way both to improve our fabulous facilities and pay for it all while meeting the needs of all members young and old.  While my daily lap times in the pool have sadly diminished over time, my enthusiasm to help the Club has not.

Scott Smith
Scott, his wife Claire, and their two boys have been active members of the Chesterbrook community since 2017.  They started their time at Chesterbrook watching their kids play in the pre-expansion kids’ pool, have spent most Sundays playing tennis as a family, and are now proud swim team parents — you can find Scott announcing and his wife corralling Little Jaws and Tiger Sharks as clerk of course.

We have loved watching Chesterbrook grow over the past few years.  When we joined, we had no concept of the club’s history nor its tight-knit community; in a transient area like DC it is wonderful to find a place like Chesterbrook.

Scott has held similar positions in the past — including Webmaster and Treasurer for DC Road Runners.  He also has been active on the Chesterbrook Strategy Committee, helping to evaluate proposals for the next phase of Chesterbrook’s growth.

Although the 2019 expansion provided an amazing set of amenities, there are clearly additional areas that demand attention.  Additional shade, an improved snack bar, and additional deck space so we can accommodate grills are some of the areas under consideration.  As the VP of Strategy, I hope to be able to lead the next phase of our club’s growth.  That growth will require someone who can actively engage the membership, coordinate design efforts, and balance fiscal considerations.  I believe my background positions me well for this role, and I look forward to the opportunity to help shape the future of our treasured aquatic enclave.

Social

Will Maher
Will Maher has been the Social Director for the last two years and is excited to continue serving. With a known supply chain, wonderful community support, and an amazing co-social Director, 2025 and 2026 are poised to enjoy cost-effective, transparent, and predictable social activities to support our diverse community. Will and his family remain very active in the swim community and camp offerings throughout the summer season.

Dive

Cindy Anderson
Cindy and her family have been members of Chesterbrook for the past decade, with her sons Gordon (14) and Gunnar (11) actively participating in the swim and dive teams. When Gordon started diving in 2017, Cindy enthusiastically embraced the sport, attending numerous judging clinics and earning certification as a referee. Her dedication also included volunteering as an announcer, and she was honored with the dive team’s parent volunteer of the year award. Looking ahead to the next season, Cindy is excited about revitalizing the team with the arrival of new coaches. She is eager to gather input from all stakeholders to enhance and expand the team while preserving the light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere that many of the kids enjoy.

Tennis Programs/Tennis Activities Director

Griffin Mauk
Griffin Mauk and her family have been members of Chesterbrook since 2020. Her three kids, Hayes (10), Campbell (8) and Caroline (7), are members of the Chesterbrook swim team and participate in the tennis programs. Griffin has been active in the tennis program since joining Chesterbrook and is a member of the Ladies Tennis Team. Her son, Hayes, joined the Junior Tennis Team two years ago and is hooked on the sport. Prior to moving to Virginia, Griffin and her husband, JT, lived in New York City for 12 years where she worked in Investment Banking for JPMorgan. Since moving to Virginia, Griffin is staying home with the kids and trying to keep up with their increasingly active schedules. Chesterbrook has already been such a big part of our social and sports life since moving to Virginia. We are so grateful for the opportunity to participate in so many wonderful activities at Chesterbrook and to meet other families. It has only gotten better since our first summer, and I very much look forward to continuing to grow and develop the already amazing tennis program at Chesterbrook.

Tennis Team Representative (Facilities)

Andy Kim
My name is Andy Kim. My family and I have been part of the Chesterbrook community since 2019 and love it here. I am the current tennis facilities/court maintenance representative and am seeking re-election for a second term. My wife Eunice and I have 3 kiddos: Addison, Olivia, and Ben (9,7,4). While they love being at the pool and the swim team, we all participate in the tennis programming here at Chesterbook and are excited to see the tennis and PB programs increasing in participation and programming.  In the past few years we have made some improvements to the pavilion, lighting, seating, court maintenance and nets. I know we have the best tennis and pickleball facilities of any DMV swim and racquet club and am committed to keeping it that way! See you on the courts!
